Good morning!
Daylight savings has ended, which means our clocks fell back one hour and we now have more daylight in the morning (and yes, less in the evening). I’m into it because as a morning person, I like to have more light in the morning than in the evening. One could argue it’s better for the circadian rhythm too? Idk.
Anyway, with Daylight Savings ending, there’s no better time to kickoff a morning routine. Now that it’s light out earlier, you can actually allow the sunlight to wake you up naturally. Plus, sunlight boosts your mood and kickstarts your circadian rhythm ☀️.
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to start a morning routine, now’s the time. Let the earlier light pull you out of bed, and take advantage of that little energy boost to start your day on the right foot.
In this week’s podcast episode, I talk about the three essential time management strategies for my twentysomething girlies. One of these strategies is, spoiler alert, a morning routine.
Now, I know everyone is talking about them, but there’s a reason — having a solid morning routine really does set the tone for your whole day. It gives you a chance to wake up slowly, feel centered, and start with intention. For us girlies in our twenties, life can feel like it’s all over the place, and it’s easy to let the day just happen to us instead of feeling like we’re in charge.
My morning routine centers me.Here are the five elements that make up my morning routine:
Exercise
Hydration
Reading/Journaling
Writing my to-do list for the day
Getting ready
So here’s your challenge for the week: wake up even just 30 minutes earlier than you normally would, make yourself a cozy coffee or tea, and try something that grounds you. Let the shift in light remind you that your mornings are a blank canvas for YOU.
Not a job.
Not anything else.
YOU.
With the natural light back, it’s like the universe is giving you a little nudge to make the most of those mornings ✨. You deserve to start each day feeling a little more grounded and a little more you.
Become More Productive and Intentional
2 Tips for Work:
Ask for What You Want & Need: No one is going to hand you the career of your dreams. You have to create it. Also, standing up for yourself helps you build confidence and self-worth. You want something? Then ask for it.
Always have a POV: Whether you’re in a meeting with clients or your boss, always have an opinion. You will be perceived as more senior and confident.
2 Tips for Love:
Take responsibility: Not feeling great about a friendship? Or your relationship? Reflect on why. Take responsibility for your words and actions. Stop embodying a victim mindset and start taking responsibility for your behavior.
Be the thoughtful friend: Be the bestie that sends handwritten “thinking of you” letters. Be the friend that picks up the phone and calls you up just to say hi. Send a “thinking of you” text. Just do the things that show your friends you care and love for them.
